Saturday 26 of July 2025. we opened to the public, with our train running, offering the chance to experience rail travel in Connemara – the first time in ninety years (the railway from Galway to Clifden closed in 1935!!).
We will continue to have open days during August and September – depending on getting the required number of volunteers to operate our railway safely.

We still are recovering from the catastrophic storm damage to our storage sheds from earlier this year – so our storm appeal is still very much open..!!!
Recent works on site have provided safe access to our rebuilt signal cabin which is open to train ticket holders on our open days.
Other work includes the erection of a new bracket signal – a ‘Down Home signal to Up loop’ on the existing ‘Down Home to Down Main’platform signal. We also installed a traditional large ETS instrument in our signal cabin!
